Northwest LA Veterans Home – Veterans Day Celebration

Please join the Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City for their annual Veterans Day Celebration. “Hiring Our Heroes” Job Fair

Carencro Veteran’s Day Memorial Celebration

Marine Corps Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony at VAMC in Shreveport

The Floyd L. Events include chicken and sausage gumbo cook-off, live music, jambalaya cook-off, silent and live auctions as well as raffles, food and drinks for sale, children’s activities including bounce houses and games, and more.  Booths will be set-up for Veterans who are seeking employment assistance.

Military Order of the Purple Heart – Statue Dedication and Ceremony

Military Order of the Purple Heart will hold a dedication ceremony for the unveiling of a statue commemorating Lt. Douglas Fornet. The event will be held at Veterans Memorial Park on the lake in Lake Charles, the band starts at 10am and the ceremony begins at 11am.

Veteran’s Celebration in Town of Jean Lafitte

Event will be held at  Lafitte Town Hall at 2654 Jean Lafitte Blvd. Lafitte, La. 70067 starting at 5:00 P.M..  Children that will be dressed as the different branches of the armed forces to entertain and be a part of the celebration. We will have our elementary and high school bands there to start the activities off with the Star Spangled Banner and other entertainment. We will also be honoring our KIA at this year’s celebration and have their families in attendance.

Annual Shreveport Veterans Day Parade at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, parade starts at 2pm.  Residents from the Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City will be in attendance.

Veteran’s Day Programs in Jackson

Join us for a Veteran’s Day Program at Dawson Cemetery in Jackson beginning at 9:00 a.m., presented by Morgan family and the Alexander Stirling Chapter of DAR.

 

Later in the day at 3:00 p.m. the Town of Jackson Masonic Cemetery will hold a Veteran’s Day Program presented by the Alexander Stirling Chapter of the DAR.  Also at 3:00 p.m. is the Redwood Cemetery Veteran’s Day Program in conjunction with Feliciana Cemetery.

Veteran’s Day Program in Plaucheville

The Town Council of Plaucheville along with the Woodmen of the World Chapter 436 will sponsor a Veteran’s Day Program starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Plaucheville Veterans Memorial.  It will be a program of song, praise and prayer in honor of our Veterans.

 

Flag Run/Walk Honoring Veterans in Pineville

The Alexandria/Fort Polk Chapter of Team Red, White and Blue will be hosting a flag run/walk in honor of Louisiana’s veterans. The event will start at Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site (135 Riverfront Street) in Pineville, LA at 2:00 PM and continue through the grounds of Central State Hospital to the Alexandria National Cemetery located at the corner of Main and Shamrock Streets in Pineville. There a short ceremony will be held. A water stop will be present sponsored by Veteran’s Homecare Solutions. The flag run/walk will resume to the large American flag at the Red River on Main Street and return to the park. Field of Flags Ceremony

The Starks Memorial VFW will hold its annual Field of Flags Ceremony in Starks, LA. Flags cost $10 and you take them home after the event.

 

Southeast LA Veterans Home – Veterans Day Celebration

Please join us for the annual Veterans Day Celebration at the Southeast LA Veterans Home in Reserve. Parade honoring our Veterans beginning at Home Depot, LaPlace, LA, to begin at 10:00 AM.  The route of the parade will be straight down Airline Hwy to the War Veterans Home in Reserve, LA, where the Veterans will be greeted by lines of saluting Young Marines.  The fire trucks will display the American flag.  We will then begin our Celebration at the Veterans Home.

We have a full program scheduled, including Guest Speakers State Senator Gary Smith, Lt. General Richard Mills, USMC, St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre, and St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom.  Our Administrator Mr. Cleveland Obey will give opening remarks.  We have the Marine Corps League coming to do a Flag Folding Ceremony.  The St. James VFW Post 5852 will have a 21 gun salute and taps.  The Louis Ford Jazz Band from the French Quarter in New Orleans will be our entertainment.  POW/MIA representatives will be in attendance.   A special poem has been written and will be read by Janice Church.  Our Veterans Council President will also speak.  A balloon release is also planned.  We will have a display table allowing our veterans to share their memories.

Iberville Parish Salute to Veterans

Veteran’s Day Celebration and Dedication/Grand Opening of “The Train Car” Exhibit at National WWII Museum in New Orleans

Please join us at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans for a Veterans Day Celebration with a presentation by the Navy Band New Orleans Brass Quintet starting at 10:30 a.m. followed by a full Veteran’s Day Program.  Immediately following will be the dedication of the Museum’s newest exhibit, “The Train Car”.

 

Later that evening, please join us for an All American Concert program honoring Veterans and featuring John Goodman as narrator and including the world premier of Jake Runestad’s “Dreams of the Fallen” for orchestra, choir and piano featuring pianist Jeffrey Biegel and Symphony Chorus of New Orleans.

Veteran’s Day Service in Natchitoches

The Natchitoches Parish Veterans and Memorial Park Committee will host a traditional Veterans Day Service on Nov. 11 at 2:00 in the downtown Park located on the corner of St. Denis and 2nd Street.  Area veterans, friends, and families will have the opportunity to visit the new park and monument prior to full completion and dedication  expected after the first of the year.  This ceremony will be proceeded by a Sunday Car and Bike show fund raiser on the riverfront hosted by the Northwestern State University ROTC.  For more information call 318-357-5157.

There will be a Veterans Day Program in Many, LA on Hwy 191 at Disabled American Veterans meeting Hall at 11:00 a.m. Program will be held for POW’s and MIA’s.  Also will have Memorial Service for area veterans who passed away during last 6 months.  The DAV Hall is located at 29340 Hwy 191.  Public is invited.

 

Veteran’s Day Event in Choudrant

The Choudrant Restoration and Beautification Society (C.R.A.B.S.) is hosting a Veteran’s Day Event at 11:00 a.m. with a short program at the Veterans Memorial Flagpole in Choudrant, LA followed by a free meal to all veterans. Veteran’s Day Program in Abita Springs

VFW Post 8720 is hosting a Veteran’s Day program at the Abita Springs Cemetery in Abita Springs, beginning at 12:00 noon.

 

Veteran’s Day Program in Jonesville

Columns Community Care Center on Hwy 84 in Jonesville will hold its Veteran’s Day Program beginning at 10:00 a.m.  for the Veterans residents and is open to the public.  Refreshments will be served after the program.

 

Veteran’s Day Events in Bunkie

The Town of Bunkie, LA will hold a Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial next to The Train Museum beginning at 12:00 noon.    Also, The Bailey House Assisted Living Home in Bunkie  hold a Veteran’s Day Program at 10:00 a.m.

 

Rededication of Freedom Flame in Alexandria

American Legion Post 3 in Alexandria will rededicate the Freedom Flame at the Rapides Parish Court House  at 10:00 a.m. The Flame was originally dedicated 11 July 1970 By Post 3 in memory of all those Patriots who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedoms that we enjoy.

 

Veteran’s Day Program in Marion

The Town of Marion will hold a Veteran’s Day Program starting at 11:00 a.m. at the corner of Highway 33 North and Louisiana 551.  There will be a reception following at the Marion Fire Station.  We are honoring the Korean Veterans this year.  We urge all veterans to attend along with everyone who wishes to honor these men and women who served or have served their country.  For more information, please call Ann Miller at 318-372-5405.

Reception for Veterans in Vivian

Frances Rebecca Harrison Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter will hold a Reception for Veterans beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Vivian Railroad and Station Museum, 100 W.  Front St. in Vivian.  Later that day, the Vivian Town Council will be recognizing Veterans from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at 112 W. Alabama in Vivian.

 

Veteran’s Day Observance at Holiday Inn in New Orleans

The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, chartered Community Historical Research Organization’s will hold a National Veterans Day Observance at the Holiday Inn New Orleans West Bank, 275 Whitney Ave., Gretna, LA 70053 in the Crescent Room on the 14 floor, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Tickets for the event are $35.00 and need to be reserved by October 30, 2013 with Ms. Simone Burrell at 504-484-3534, M – F  8 am to 4 pm or burrell.simone@jobcorps.org.

 

Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City

Continuing its Veteran’s Day Celebration, the DAV will sponsor musical entertainment for residents at the Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City beginning at 2pm.

 

Veterans and Soldiers Celebration in City of Central

Join us for a Veterans and Soldiers Celebration starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Intermediate School Courtyard.  Event features a prayer service, musical tributes, special guest speakers and more.

 

 

Tuesday, November 12

 

Veteran’s Day Program at Block High School in Jonesville

Block High School in Jonesville will hold its Veteran’s Day program in the gym starting  at 9:30 a.m.  Following,  Veterans and Guests are invited to First Baptist Church for a DVD viewing of area Veterans pictures – approx. 650 – in the church sanctuary and immediately following will go to the church gym for refreshments and other patriotic displays.
